1-The Higher National Certificate In accordance with the recommendations made by the major companies and establishments in Bahrain, and based on the findings of the field survey on the requirements of the local labour market, it was concluded that there is great demand on qualified Bahraini technicians in the field of Air-Conditioning Engineering, telecommunication and Auto Engineering. For this reason, the Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education at the Ministry of Education took the initiative to introduce new programmes aiming at training candidates to obtain the HNC and hence providing the labour market with well trained Bahraini technicians in the three above mentioned fields of specialization. These programmes have been designed in coordination with the Edexcel and the participation of many big local companies and establishments. Candidates joining these programmes will have the opportunity to benefit from the facilities available at Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Institute of Technology. Programme Beneficiaries The HNC programmes have been specially designed for those who have obtained the General Secondary Certificate from the Technical or Science route and are currently working in the field of Air-Conditioning Engineering, Telecommunication or Auto Engineering in the private or the public sector. Entry Requirements
2-The Higher National Diploma (HND) In the light of the success achieved with the first batch joining the HNC programmes at Shaikh Khalifa Institute of Technology, many employers from the private and public sectors showed interested to enroll their employees in the Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes. The Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education had taken the necessary arrangements to run the HND programmes in the field of Air-Conditioning Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering and Auto Engineering. The HND is a link which enables learners to proceed towards further education to obtain the B.S in the same field of education.
