RSS or Really Simple Syndication is an easy way to stay informed by retrieving the latest updates from the sites you are interested in. Instead of visiting the site to see if it has fresh contents, you will get automatic alerts to check out the updates that have been added to your favourite sites.

You need an Internet browser that supports RSS technology, such as Internet Explorer 7 and Mozilla Firefox, or you can use a Feed Reader or News Aggregator software that allow you to grab the RSS feeds from various sites and display them for you to read and use. You can subscribe to RSS feed by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your RSS reader.

A variety of RSS Readers are available for different platforms. Some popular feed readers include Amphetadesk (Windows, Linux, Mac), FeedReader (Windows), and NewsGator (Windows - integrates with Outlook). There are also a number of web-based feed readers available. My Yahoo, Bloglines, and Google Reader are popular web-based feed readers.
