Opening Additional Classes for Students with Special Needs

<p>His Excellency Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Education Minister, announced that within the frame of the continuous endeavor to boost the fundamental school environment aiming to receive Students with Special Needs, the next school year will witness the opening of three classes for Students with Mental Disabilities in three intermediate schools: Abdulrahman Al Nasser Primary and Intermediate Boys School, Riffa Intermediate Boys School and Abdulrahman Al Dakhil Intermediate Boys School. In addition, more support will be given for Students with Special Needs Integration Schools by opening a new class for autistic students in Um Al Hassam Primary Boys School. <br /> The minister pointed out that the number of Students with Special Needs who have been integrated in public schools in all stages of education is 8931 male and female students from all categories and that there are 59 Integration Schools. He also stressed the fact that the ministry has equipped those schools with all aids and facilities required for that category of students such as ramps for physically handicapped students and passageways and signs in Braille, specs and special books and computers for those with visual disabilities and has bought medical hearing aids and wheelchairs. What is more, the ministry has provided special education teachers and female workers accompanying students suffering from autism, 11 buses equipped with mechanical lifts and including all features that make them fit to Students with Special Needs. <br /></p>
